September 24, 2013: Ryan Institute Research Day
Thanks to everyone who attended and presented at our annual research day, it was a huge success.
Over 70 research posters were on display in the Orbsen Building Atrium, and all of our priority research area leaders gave talks on topics including future energy supply, biodiscovery, and climate change research. In the afternoon, a dedicated Health from Environment symposium was held, with talks by both internal Centre for Health from Environment, and external, experts.
The date coincided with the meeting of our International Advisory Board (http://www.ryaninstitute.ie/about-us/people/advisory-board/). One of our board members, Dr. Niall McDonagh, Executive Scientific Secretary of the European Marine Board, gave a keynote talk “Navigating the Future: Setting a European agenda for seas and oceans science”. Mr. Tony Juniper, leading UK environmental campaigner and author, gave the second keynote talk in the afternoon on the subject of Ecology vs. Economy.
