Climate Change research has a long history within NUI Galway, with the internationally important Mace Head Atmospheric Research Station recently celebrating its 50th birthday.  At the Ryan Institute, Climate Change research is organized into four main sub-themes – Atmospheric Composition and Emissions, Air Quality and Pollution, Ocean-Atmosphere Exchange, and Climate-Ecosystem Interactions – and has been consolidated into an integrated Centre for Climate and Air Pollution Studies (C-CAPS).  C-CAPS aims to consolidate research in the area of atmospheric composition, climate change and natural feedbacks, air-sea exchange, and air quality impacts on health and ecosystems.
