Outreach

Photo: Cian Flaherty, GETNSOne of the primary objectives of the Ryan Institute is to promote interaction between environmental researchers, policy makers, and the general public. With a vast knowledge base covering a variety of disciplines, the Ryan Institute is in a unique position to be able to provide insight and understanding to topics ranging from wastewater treatment to combustion chemistry to the biodiversity of Ireland’s coastal zone.

Our Schools Outreach Programme calls on the expertise of a number of researchers in the area of environmental education, and includes a series of portable exhibits and interactive presentations, modelled on the SESE (Social, Environmental, and Scientific Education) curriculum. In addition, the Ryan Institute is actively involved in organizing events such as workshops, public lectures, and science fairs, designed to engage the community on various issues surrounding the subjects of the environment, marine and energy.
